Amsterdam diary

Last winter holiday I went for a one month Europe trip with my parents, which I will say unbelievably fun and amazing opportunity to spend time with my parents while checking some places (and Birkin hunting). It is no wonder to the family that my mom is a globe trotter. She loves to travel and when she does it, she makes sure she will not miss out any places. The first destination in our Europe itinerary is Amsterdam, Netherlands. I have always heard of good things about this city and it is true. The city is divided by many canals and what amazed me is the massive amount of bikes in the city. I have never seen such developed city where people still ride bikes in such cold temperature. Europe is never lacking of museums and if you do like it, a visit to Rijksmuseum is a must. This grand museum is home to many famous paints by Rembrandt, Hals and Vermeer. The advantage of travelling during December is of course the Christmas market. Hot waffles, poffertjes, hot chocolates and mulled wines are some of the food served. Amazing! As for the shopping part, there are many local shops around Jordaan district, high end brands around Museum district (near Rijksmuseum), high street brands in the Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat. While, De Bijenkforf is arguably the most famous department store in the city.
